Come Row with us!

What to expect:

-Open rows are scheduled multiple times a week. Registration is required. Rows are typically 1 hour long.

-Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled row time to sign in, meet the boat steerer and crew, and help unpack and prepare the boat. Boats arrive back at the dock around the scheduled "end" time and all rowers are expected to help with securing the boat, removing and stowing the safety gear in our dock boxes, and assisting with covering the oars.

-Our boats are fixed seat, fiberglass, "Yankee style" Beetle Whaleboats. There are five rowers and 1 boat steerer. There is room for 1 bow rider. We use carbon fiber "sweep" oars and a wooden steering oar.

-Crews must have a minimum of 4 rowers and 1 boat steerer to go out. In the event of inclement weather, it is the responsibility of the boat steerer to make the final decision about whether the crew will still row. Safety is our priority!

-As a new rower, you will be given basic instruction for entering and exiting the boat safely, commonly used commands, basic rowing technique, and other information pertinent to your time rowing with us.

-Personal flotation devices (life jackets) are provided by the club on all rows. You are welcome to bring your own if you would like.

-It is expected that if you sign up for a row that you will attend. This is a group sport! If you cannot attend, it is your responsibility to cancel your registration online (if more than 24 hours in advance) so we can offer that seat to another rower. If it is less than 24 hours in advance, please contact Leslie via phone or text (508-207-5986) as soon as you know you cannot row. Note: Multiple cancellations or no shows may result in restricted access to signing up for future open rows.

What to bring:

-Weather appropriate clothing. (Layers are recommended)

-A hat and sunglasses

-Water bottle

-An open mind, ready to learn!

Rowing provides many benefits beyond just exercise.

Many of our members have been rowing for years, sometimes even decades! It is a great way to meet new people, get some exercise, learn about the history of maritime activities in this area, take care of your mental and emotional health, and give back to the community.

Come out on the water with us and see for yourself!
